Dear Parents,
I’m writing to you to bring your attention to a serious matter here at Brown School. This isn’t a new issue, but it is serious. The two loops in front of the school are traffic problems. The loop directly in front of the school is the bus loop. This loop should not be used for drop off and pick up between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. and/or 2:30 and 3:00 p.m. The loop that is closer to our side entrance is meant for SINGLE LANE drop off and/or pick up. If you are using this loop please pull all the way up, drop off your child/children and then pull away. If you need to get out of your vehicle please pull into a parking spot in the parking lot. Please do not get out of your vehicle in the drop off loop. When parents stop and get out of their vehicle in the drop off loop traffic begins to back up and eventually blocks the flow of traffic on Highland Avenue.
We are making every effort to keep our students safe. We have several volunteers helping to get our students across Highland Avenue before and after school. We have Mrs. Perkins and Mrs. Small on the curb in the drop off loop to assist students getting out of cars. At the end of the day we have Ed Techs checking the bus lists to make sure all the students are accounted for. As you can see we are trying very hard to keep students safe. Please help us by following the suggested procedures in the bus loop and in the drop off/pick up loop. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions about safety at Brown School.
Sincerely,
Margaret Hawkins
